Voices of Women in the IAM

In preparation for celebrations for International Women’s Day, IAM Canada is releasing the first of its kind newsletter, Voices. This newsletter is dedicated to stories about accomplishments of IAM sisters; sisters who are making a difference in their local lodges, workplaces, communities and beyond.

Voices will also feature inspiring international developments and stories that link workers and women’s struggles in a broader global context, underscoring the importance of solidarity through activism; whether it be small acts of activism or those on a broader scale, we celebrate them all.

Voices will be issued twice a year, and we encourage members to contact us at this email address: women@iamaw.ca and share stories, initiatives, photographs, videos and articles. By all means, Voices reflects the voices of our members, and their stories as told by them. We hope to hear from you with content for our next edition.

As part of this initiative, we have also designed a Women’s Committee logo for our Canadian members. The logo’s message emphasizes that Women’s Committees have always been the momentum for change within the labour movement and outside of it. It also signals IAM women’s readiness for activism beyond traditional avenues, their readiness and eagerness to take the fights of our day resolutely and with perseverance.

Last but not least, we thank Zita Hildebrandt from Local Lodge 2797 for her creative efforts and tremendous help in preparing the first issue of Voices
